Junior Accountant


Job Role:

The Junior Accountant will assist the accounting department in managing the financial activities related to real estate properties, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting senior accountants and financial managers with various accounting tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Ledger Maintenance:

– Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy in financial records.

  1. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

– Process invoices and ensure timely payment to vendors.

– Prepare and send out client invoices.

– Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.

  1. Bank Reconciliations:

– Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of bank statements and financial records.

  1. Property Financial Reporting:

– Assist in preparing financial reports related to property performance, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

– Help in the preparation of budgets and forecasts for properties.

  1. Lease Administration:

– Support the management of lease agreements by ensuring accurate recording of lease terms and payments.

– Track lease renewals and expirations.

  1. Tax Preparation and Compliance:

– Assist in preparing tax documents and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

– Help with property tax filings and payments.

  1. Audit Support:

– Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit queries.

  1. Expense Tracking and Management:

– Track and manage expenses related to property maintenance and operations.

– Ensure proper allocation of expenses to respective properties and accounts.

  1. Data Entry and Management:

– Enter financial data accurately into accounting software.

– Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records.

  1. Financial Analysis:

– Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements.

– Support senior accountants with variance analysis and other financial analysis tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

– Educational Background:

– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

– Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA candidate) are a plus.

– Technical Skills

– Proficiency in accounting software

– Strong Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.

– Attention to Detail:

– High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and reporting.

– Analytical Skills:

– Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.

– Communication Skills:

– Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with vendors, clients, and team members.

– Organizational Skills:

– Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

– Real Estate Knowledge:

– Basic understanding of real estate transactions, property management, and related financial processes is advantageous.
